Event Information

The Colorado Symphony is pleased to announce “Red Rocks on a High Note,” an end-of-summer celebration at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, scheduled for Saturday, September 13.

A showcase of the Colorado Symphony’s musicianship and innovation, “Red Rocks on a High Note” combines traditional and contemporary works into an accessible, exciting program that will surprise and delight music lovers of all kinds.

“The Colorado Symphony is the biggest and best band in the state, and one of the best in the country,” says Jerome H. Kern, CEO and Co-Chair of the Colorado Symphony Board of Trustees. “We invite the Red Rocks crowd to experience a powerful show that will change the way they think about classical music.”

“This program will take the audience through a true musical adventure, with music that evokes a range of moods, from ecstatic to romantic to reflective,” adds Kern. “Our goal is to attract people of all backgrounds, to show them that the Colorado Symphony is their orchestra, too.”

Conducted by Scott O’Neil, “Red Rocks on a High Note” will include selections from contemporary composers John Williams, John Adams and Johnny Greenwood, guitarist of Radiohead. The program will also include beloved works by Beethoven, Debussy, Berlioz and Vivaldi. O’Neil will narrate the performance, taking the audience through an engaging, entertaining evening: Imagine a musical Ted Talk with light projections and very powerful soundtrack brought to life by more than 80 musicians.

“Red Rocks on a High Note” is presented by Bhang Medicinal Chocolate. Headline sponsors are Leafly and Gaia Plant-Based Medicine. Additional sponsorship support is provided by Terrapin Care Station, LivWell, The Farm, Cannapages, Walking Raven, Julie & Kate Baked Goods, and Westword. “Red Rocks on a High Note” is co-produced by Edible Events Co.

“I’m super excited to be a part of this incredible concert and look forward to making it a can’t-miss event,” says Scott Van Rixel, founder and CEO, Bhang Medicinal Chocolate. “It is an honor to do something for the Colorado Symphony, which is an institution I love.”

“Leafly is proud and excited to be partnering with the Colorado Symphony on the ‘Red Rocks on a High Note’ concert,” says Kayla Cook, events and sponsorship coordinator, Leafly. “This event is truly ground-breaking.”

“Our partnership in this series is a natural extension of our company values and we are honored to be a part of this history-making series,” says Meg Sanders, CEO, Gaia Plant-Based Medicine.

“The Colorado Symphony is grateful to our sponsors, who support the orchestra’s ongoing efforts to reach out to new and more diverse audiences,” adds Kern. “Through new programming, new funding models and new relationships with emerging businesses, including those involved with the legal cannabis industry in Colorado, we’re attracting new fans, and new funding, all of which is vital to the success of our organization in a changing world.”
