Gran Fondo Race (Century Bike)
|Saturday, August 13, 2016
Red Rocks Gran Fondo is a challenging and scenic ride through the Colorado Front Range, followed by an epic after-party. Riders will ride through local landmarks including Dinosaur Ridge and Red Rocks Park, as well as classic mountain towns. This Gran Fondo-style ride includes timed segments and some challenging climbs in elevation.
So what is a Gran Fondo?
By definition it is “a long-distance road cycling event in which a large number of cyclists ride a marked route.” But most cyclists recognize the term for being associated with rides that pack big fun. In Italy (where the term was coined), Gran Fondo events include: challenging routes, electronic timing, fantastic giveaways, a consumer expo, well-stocked aid stations, mobile tech support and a fun post-race party. All of which you’ll find at this year’s event.
